The idea of 'hi' came up in conversation during my first site visit. When talking of possible text to put in the windows, Firstsites' 'Hello' came up in conversation and I mentioned that I already had my own 'hi' which I had previously used.
The idea of placing the text into We Are The Minories felt fun, the work is already one that is nomadic so it was fitting for it to go on another outing and it had the added benefit of being in dialect with Firstsite.
On more practical levels it also fitted into the space provided, the front window, unlike the long side window, only had a small shelf towards the right-hand side. This is large enough to house the lettering and is also close to the entrance allowing the text to welcome in the public.
By complete coincidence, the colouring of the lettering is also fitting to the coloured used within the signage. This further allows connections to be made between the site, context, and text.
